I always thought Bonnaroo was just a big druggie festival loaded with jam band / psychadelic background music to enhance your groove.
I think that used to be the case. But I heard last year that Tom Petty pulled off an awesome set, Sufjan Stevens has played the event, and Radiohead is planning to release a DVD of their performance last year.
So all signs point to this event becoming one of the greatest outdoor music festivals of our time (if it’s not at that status already). I’ve just become convinced of this because of a press release Bonnaroo just dropped revealing some of the bands on the bill for 2007.
Some of my favorites:
The Police, The White Stripes, Wilco, The Flaming Lips, Franz Ferdinand, Damien Rice, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, The Decemberists, Kings of Leon, Wolfmother, Regina Spektor, The Black Keys, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Spoon, Keller Williams, Old Crow Medicine Show, Fountains Of Wayne, Dr. Dog, RX Bandits, Martha Wainwright, etc!
I mean that’s one heck of a lineup. I’ve heard rumors that Bob Dylan will also be on the bill. So who wants to go? I mean, screw the drugs, I can block out trashed hippies if I have The Decemberists in front of me. Tickets go on sale on February 23rd at Bonnaroo.com!

Ugh, the smell of hippies kills me. Patchouli should be illegal.
Holy chit - i gotta tell J - that kicks azz…..you know a certain prof (Peter) asked us to go one year and we had other plans…..but the Police?! Dylan?!
whoa…Tool is going too - must not be one of your favs
but J and i saw them in DC few months ago - one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen
i guess we shouldn’t invite tess over for our patchouli incense burning parties.
…or to the next phish concert.
