Jenny Lewis IS Rilo Kiley

I just found out through an iTunes scavenger hunt that Jenny Lewis is actually the singer for the band Rilo Kiley. I’m kind of embarrassed and surprised because I never made the connection… I have the Jenny Lewis CD (with the Watson Twins) called “Rabbit Fur Coat” which is a definite 5 star album in my collection. It’s been on my limited-selection iPod Nano since I bought it. It’s got soul, and most importantly, it’s got the three H’s: Head, Heart, and Hussle! Jenny Lewis has such a beautiful voice, kind of similar to Regina Spektor but from a more folky background. She’s a blind man’s dream come true. But wait, she’s also incredibly attractive. Correction: she’s every man’s dream come true.

Wikipedia helped me realize the connection between J-Lew and Rilo Kiley. She’s also done a ton of guest appearances on albums for The Postal Service, Bright Eyes, M. Ward, and I hope they payed her well to sing on a record for Cursive :) . She’s been an actor too, but it’s suffice to say she’s finally found her niche.

I bought the latest Rilo Kiley album, “More Adventurous”, on iTunes. I’m loving this whole ‘buy an entire album for $9.99′ thing. It supports my commitment to live in a completely digital world. So far so good. Anyway, this record is easily becoming a 5 star in my book. I’ve heard some Rilo Kiley here and there, but actually owning a record makes it much more significant. I love it - it’s still very much like the Jenny Lewis solo stuff, but with a tougher edge. More rock and roll, lots of really good slide guitar, some truly awesome musicians.

If anyone believes anything I say on here, go buy it and I promise you’ll love it… if you’re into good music. If not, the new Shakira album is out. Album covers and Wikipedia links below:
